On Thursday 21 January, the Ambassade van Den Haag (Embassy of The Hague) won the Netwerk Citymarketing Award. This was announced during the Day of the City Marketing in Leiden. At the Embassy of The Hague, 250 enthusiastic volunteers work as City Hosts, welcoming visitors during events. The City Hosts help visitors if they have questions about the city, the event or how to get from A to B.
As co-initiator and partner, Hotelschool The Hague is very proud of the Embassy of The Hague for winning this prestigious award. Hotelschool The Hague provided the volunteers with selection and training to become enthusiastic City Hosts. Moreover, Hotelschool The Hague helped the municipality with transforming this initiative into a continuous hospitality programme; a new form of collaboration by the city, inhabitants, Hotelschool The Hague and various stakeholders.
The Netwerk Citymarketing Award is an annual prize that is awarded to projects and campaigns that have made an outstanding contribution in the past year in the field of City Marketing. The jury observed efficiency, innovation and quality.
At the presentation of the award, the jury motivated why the Hague has won this year: "The Hague really works on being a welcoming city. The Embassy of The Hague clearly joins that ambition: “The great thing about this initiative, is that it’s not one-off, but will be used continuously. Volunteers from all walks of life are enthusiastic and are thus actively involved in the city. "
Jeannette Binnema of the Embassy of The Hague: "We started in 2014 with the Embassy of The Hague to offer visitors to the World Cup Hockey a welcoming reception. That was a big success and we knew very quickly that we wanted to do this more often. We are very proud that our approach is now getting recognition from Netwerk Citymarketing!"
