On Monday 29 April 2019, Hotelschool The Hague and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University entered a five-year memorandum of understanding. They herewith endorse mutual collaboration in education and research, with the dual purpose of developing educational and academic collaborations and further understanding between both universities.

The scope of cooperation includes the exchange of students, staff and research, joint research activities, co-development of academic programmes and the organisation of joint conferences, seminars or workshops.

Their common goal, being a leading university in their sector by providing students with quality education that benefits society, led them to explore a partnership between the two universities. According to the QS world university rankings in hospitality leisure management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University ranks fifth and Hotelschool The Hague sixth, already making them global players. Collaboration between the two will only result in more knowledge sharing and an increase in overall quality.

The event took place at Hotelschool The Hague’s Amsterdam campus. Professor Kaye Chon, Dean and Chair Professor, and Walter Kwok, Foundation Professor in International Hospitality Management, represented the School of Hotel and Tourism Management of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Ms Regine von Stieglitz, President of the Hotelschool The Hague Board of Directors, represented Hotelschool The Hague. Ms Regine von Stieglitz: “In our programme we teach our students that ‘collaboration is the key to success’ and I believe this partnership perfectly embodies just that. We are keen to venture into this partnership and see what we can achieve together.”
