Hotelschool The Hague students develop an innovative business model for Seats2meet International

Definite rollout 2meetEverywhere offers Hotelschool students a unique opportunity

Spread over a ten-week period more than 150 Hotelschool The Hague students developed innovative hospitality concepts for Seats2meet International BV. Active in 30 countries worldwide and offering more than 200 unique co-work locations, Seats2meet has an impressive total of 17,000 workplaces.

Based on a research assignment, Hotelschool students from both Amsterdam and The Hague campuses got down to work. They visited Seats2meet locations, undertook market research, and held interviews. These activities formed the basis of team brainstorming sessions, from which the results were further developed into a number of surprising new concepts.

Ronald van den Hoff, founder of the Seats2meet formula: “Seats2meet officially started back in 2007 and was always innovative and progressive in the field of  co-working, meetings and events within the business-to-business market. We want to keep innovating and we think it is essential to invite the younger generation to contribute to this continual innovation. The field of co-working in "3rd spaces" is currently on trend, especially in the COVID-19 era. We believe in knowledge-sharing which is an important element of our concept. Hotelschool The Hague students come from one of the best hospitality business schools in the world and their broad perspective on innovation and hospitality has significantly changed our services and products.”

Hotelschool The Hague’s winning team provided a fascinating business model for Seats2meet International. Working and meeting anywhere in the world is central to their philosophy, be it online or physically or a combination of both. Any professional can come up with a meeting place and agree on that location with other professionals. It could be anywhere; in a library, park or cafe, and even in someone's home or office. It is possible that a popular location naturally develops into a meeting hotspot, or a “Powered by Seats2meet" location. In this way users can create pop-up co-working spaces anywhere and become their own "host". This eliminates travel time and travel costs and ticks all the boxes of the Triple Bottom Line. ”

Business Model Innovation
This project is part of the Business Model Innovation (BMI) course that third year students follow during their Bachelor Programme at Hotelschool The Hague. Students collaborate with the business community on genuine innovation assignments using the Design Thinking framework. In teams or individually, they find solutions which are subsequently tested, improved and developed until a valid new business model is created. Recent clients include Seats2meet, MCI, World Forum, UNICEF and PwC.
