Winners of Best City Centre of The Netherlands: Almere and Breda
- 3 min read
Two weeks ago, the Best City Centres of The Netherlands were revealed during a festive conference. Hotelschool the Hague was part of the jury. After an intensive jury process, Almere and Breda have been named the Best City Centres of The Netherlands.
Karoline Wiegerink and Jan Huizing (research City Hospitality) were members of the jury panel. The panel covered all perspectives like retail, real estate, mobility, sustainability and hospitality. The winning cities demonstrated the best development in all these factors.
Students of Hotelschool The Hague have contributed to the judgement process as well. They conducted mystery visits in the nominated cities. In an interactive workshop, the findings were integrated and mapped into customer journeys. Students evaluated all the main touch points in the customer journey such as public transport, tourist information shops, museums, markets, restaurants. Based on the findings, tips (points for improvement/dissatisfiers) and tops (wow factors) of the cities were identified. These synthesised journey maps provided the jury members with valuable insights to better judge the quality of the city in terms of visitor experience.
During the award conference, Jan Huizing presented Hotelschool The Hague's hospitality perspective and joined a discussion on how to involve entrepreneurs towards economic return on hospitality.
The winning cities received a nice prize: a management workshop with students of Hotelschool The Hague, who conducted the mystery visits.
