Hotelschool The Hague started 2021 on an active note by organising a Virtual Run for students and employees between the two campus locations: the Hospitality Charity Run 2021. A way of exercising together remotely and supporting a good cause at the same time.

Charity Foundation Benekids

Every participant registering for the Hospitality Charity Run 2021 automatically donates €5 to the Charity Foundation Benekids, part of the Student Association Comitas. This foundation organises around ten events per year, the profit generated goes directly to initiatives that support education through hospitality concepts in Central America.

Hotelschool The Hague partnered with the app "MyMission". A route between The Hague and Amsterdam was mapped out in the app, with a total distance of 197 km. On the route, there are about 30 places of interest, and every time you ‘pass’ one of these, either cycling or running you get information about it via the app. Kilometers cycled on the home trainer count too!

Rebecca van Emden, Rooms Division Instructor, Skotel Amsterdam, and project manager of the Hospitality Run 2021 stated:

“The goal is to get moving and to keep moving. Hotelschool The Hague closed for the second time in December 2020 and although we are offering online education, collaboration in teams on campus is sorely missed. Hospitality is about collaboration, teamwork, and team management and this is what motivates our students. It’s in their DNA and that’s why our team organised this sports activity.”

Prize-winning lottery

As extra motivation, Hotelschool The Hague has arranged a lottery alongside the Hospitality Charity Run 2021. There are a number of overnight stays available as prizes in collaboration with a number of high-end hotels; Hotel Des Indes in The Hague, the Okura, The Grand, Hotel de l'Europe in Amsterdam, STAATS in Haarlem, La Rosa in Zandvoort, and Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk aan Zee. Participants who finish the run before 1 April 2021 are in the lottery for these hotel prizes which make the virtual race tangible. Despite the difficult times that hotels are facing at the moment, these hotels collaborating with us believe that it is important to support young people and students who could be their future employees and hotel managers. Some museums on the route have also offered entrance tickets as prizes.

To qualify for the Limited Edition Medal, participants should finish before 1 April 2021.

Now is the time - You can join the run here.
