Paulien Herder new member Board of Trustees Hotelschool The Hague

Hotelschool The Hague is proud to announce that Paulien Herder has been appointed member of the Board of Trustees. She will take on her responsibilities as of 1 September 2019.

“In pursuit of our clearly defined strategy, the Board of Trustees has decided to expand the supervisory expertise in multidisciplinary research and to further complement the broad mix of skills in our team. We are delighted to welcome Paulien to Hotelschool The Hague and look forward to build on her extensive knowledge in realising our strategic objectives”, commented Wolfgang M. Neumann, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Herder is currently a full professor in “Energy systems” for the Faculty of Mechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineering (3mE) at Delft University of Technology. In her research, engineering sciences, as well as social and behavioural sciences, play an important role. She has an excellent international network of socio-technical systems scientists and she carries various academic responsibilities in her academic and societal networks. Paulien is the director of the Delft Energy Initiative, which is a portal for about 1000 energy researchers on the campus in Delft. The portal plays a coordinating role with respect to energy education. She is the Captain of Science of the Topteam Energy and she is board member of the Dutch national science foundation’s domain for Applied and Engineering Sciences (NWO-TTW). In 2017, she was awarded the TU Delft Leermeesterprijs (Professor of Excellence Award) for excellence in research and teaching.

Herder studied Chemical Engineering and obtained her PhD in Systems Engineering at Delft University of Technology. Herder: “I am delighted to be appointed as member of the Board of Trustees of Hotelschool The Hague. The Hotelschool boasts strong educational values and education leadership in the hospitality industry. This aligns very well with how I have approached my research and teaching within my domain at TU Delft. I look forward to sharing my expertise and knowledge on building strong multidisciplinary research programmes with impact. I anticipate exciting times in close collaboration with the Board, students, employees and the fellow members of the Board of Trustees.”
